Excerpt from the chapter:
When God Used Me

As I entered the subway station one afternoon after viewing my master photo that would accompany my resume, I was greatly moved when I noticed a woman, visibly upset, yelling at a young girl standing near her on the subway platform.

The young girl had a large build, and seemed to be the quiet type. She must have been about 15. The person who appeared to be her mother was shorter. The mother carried bags that appeared heavy; one of the bags slightly pulling her coat off of her shoulder. She kept yelling loudly at her daughter. “Give me the money,” she screamed.

The daughter backed away as if afraid of being hit. The mother yelled louder, “What did you do that for?”  Give me the [expletive] money,” she repeated. The daughter made an attempt to speak, but said nothing, except a gentle, almost inaudible, “What did I do?” With some hesitation, the daughter approached her mother and gave her the money she had in her hand. Her mother continued to yell at her as they got on the train.

I was reminded of the many times I felt overwhelmed with responsibilities and duties of parenting. There were times when I reacted in the same exact way toward my daughter because .........
